Music Celebrations International extends an official invitation to the F IRST E VANGELICAL L UTHERAN C HURCH C HOIR to participate in the N ATIONAL M EMORIAL D AY C HORAL F ESTIVAL in Washington, D.C., to take place May 25 - 28, 2012. We are proud to join with the Mayor of Washington, D.C. and the American Veterans Center in extending this invitation. Music Celebrations is pleased to create and organize a Choral Festival in our Nation’s capital that honors those veterans past and present who have sacrificed so much for the liberties we currently enjoy in our country – as well as around the world. Current plans for the setting for this commemoration will be the C ONCERT H ALL IN THE J OHN F. K ENNEDY C ENTER FOR THE P ERFORMING A RTS under the Artistic Direction of D R. C RAIG J ESSOP, Dean of the Department of Music at Utah State University. Not merely a festival for Washington, the N ATIONAL M EMORIAL D AY C HORAL F ESTIVAL is an event for the entire country – a major event which seeks to draw the attention of Americans to the real meaning for the holiday: Honoring the men and women who have served, and died, to preserve our liberties. The Director Dr. Craig Jessop is Dean of the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He is also the newly appointed Music Director of the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra. These appointments follow Dr. Jessop ’ s distinguished tenure as music director of the world famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He concurrently serves as the music director of the Carnegie Hall National High School Choral Festival sponsored by the Weill Institute of Music at Carnegie Hall. Prior to his appointment with the Tabernacle Choir, Dr. Jessop was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force music programs, where he served as director of the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants in Washington, D.C. (1980-1987); as commander and conductor of the Band of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe at Ramstein, Germany (1987-1991); and as commander and conductor of the Air Combat Command Heartland of America Band (1991-1995). He has also been music director of the Maryland Choral Society, the Rhineland-Pfalz International Choir of Germany and the Omaha Symphonic Chorus. Dr. Jessop has been on the American choral scene for more than thirty years. The renowned choral conductor has recently stepped down from leadership of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir after over 12 years of service with the choir. Under Dr. Jessop ’ s musical direction, the Tabernacle Choir received numerous awards, including the National Medal of Arts. He has recorded over 15 CDs on the Telarc and MTC labels with the Choir and most recently received a Grammy nomination for his work with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square.

Meet your Tour Manager, who will escort you through the duration of your activities Sightseeing may include a panoramic tour of Historic Washington, D.C. Check into your hotel Festival Welcome Dinner and introductions 7:00pm – 10:00pm Evening Festival Chorus Rehearsal Saturday, May 26 th, 2012 Breakfast at the hotel 9:00am – 12:00pm Morning Festival Chorus rehearsal Lunch, on own Visit the Marine Corps Iwo Jima War Memorial Take a tour of Arlington National Cemetery and participate in the special U.S. Military Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown* Spend the afternoon visiting several of the Smithsonian Institute Museums Dinner at a local restaurant 7:00pm – 10:00pm Evening Festival Chorus Rehearsal

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Dinner at a local restaurant Optional: attend the “National Memorial Day Concert” on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, featuring a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra (no reserved seating) Monday, May 28 th, 2012 Breakfast at the hotel Board your motorcoach to the pre-parade staging area Box lunch, provided 1:30pm Perform as a Festival Chorus at the National Archives Building in the Pre-Parade festivities prior to the start of the National Memorial Day Parade Celebrate Memorial Day by attending the nation’s National Memorial Day Parade on Historic Constitution Avenue Dinner at a local restaurant Evening walking tour of the Lincoln, Korean, World War II, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Vietnam Memorials, as well as the Washington Monument Return to hotel for overnight Tuesday, May 29 th, 2012 Breakfast at the hotel, followed by hotel checkout Morning free to tour the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Lunch, on own Visit the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Afternoon performance at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, or similar* Board Motorcoach for transfer to Ronald Regan International Airport Depart for home *Subject to confirmation
