Key Stage 3 Music Students will have the opportunity to study: Learn to play keyboards Film Music Instruments of the Orchestra Traditional Music Musical characterisation

Key Stage 3 Music Through three 50-minute periods per fortnight students will have the opportunity of: Making and responding to Music Improvising and composing Interpreting and performing Music Listening and appraising Music

Music Lessons Music Lessons on offer at Slemish: Strings (NEELB) Brass and Woodwind (NEELB) Guitar (Private) Singing (Private) Drums and Percussion (Private) Pupils can continue lessons started at Primary School (NEELB) There are opportunities for new students to begin an instrument at Slemish College

Extra Curricular Music Slemish offers various opportunities for students interested in performing: Junior Choir Orchestra Senior Choir Ensembles Solo performance opportunities

Junior Choir The Choirs and Orchestra participate in many events throughout the year such as: Special assemblies and Celebrations Concerts Talent Show Music Festivals Charity Events Musical Production – Oliver!, Grease and most recently My Fair Lady Performing on Local Radio

Exam Classes GCSE: Practical, Listening and Composition Areas of Study – Music for Celebration, Musical Traditions in Ireland and Musical Arrangements Using recording equipment Using ICT – Sibelius Software AS and A2 Level: Composition, Practical and Listening Areas of Study – The Concerto and The Origins of Jazz
