The Eagle cafeteria has twenty eight tables. If 24 students are sitting at each table, how many students are sitting in the Eagle cafeteria?

First, let’s make our window. We have two digits in both numbers, so we should have 2 rows and 2 columns in our window. Then we can break apart our numbers by place value– tens and ones.

What is 4 x 20? 80! Now we can multiply to find the product for each square. We multiply each row, by each column. 40080 16032 Row x Column What is 20 x 20? 400! What is 20 x 8? 160! What is 4 x 8? 32! Remember.. If you know your basic facts, you can use patterns to help you figure out how to multiply larger numbers with zeroes!
