The two major numbering systems Strong: a late 19 th -century system associated originally with the Authorized or King James Version (A/KJV). Goodrick/Kohlenberger (G/K): a late 20 th - century system associated originally with, and still tied closely to, the New International Version (NIV). Conversion charts exist, e.g. the “Numbering system indexes” beginning on p. 1811 of The NIV exhaustive concordance, ed. Goodrick & Kohlenberger, REF BS425.G62 1990. p. 759 of vol. 5 of the New international dictionary of Old Testament theology and exegesis, ed. VanGemeren, REF BS440.N438 1997.

1 SAMUEL 10:1-13 NASB 1 Then Samuel took the flask of oil, poured it on his head, kissed him and said, "Has not the LORD anointed you a ruler over His inheritance ? 2 "When you go from me today, then you will find two men close to Rachel's tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah ; and they will say to you, 'The donkeys which you went to look for have been found. Now behold, your father has ceased to be concerned about the donkeys and is anxious for you, saying, "What shall I do about my son ?"' 3 "Then you will go on further from there, and you will come as far as the oak of Tabor, and there three men going up to God at Bethel will meet you, one carrying three young goats, another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a jug of wine ; 4 and they will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you will accept from their hand. 5 "Afterward you will come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is; and it shall be as soon as you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and a lyre before them, and they will be prophesying. 6 "Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you mightily, and you shall prophesy with them and be changed into another man. 7 "It shall be when these signs come to you, do for yourself what the occasion requires, for God is with you. 8 "And you shall go down before me to Gilgal ; and behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice peace offerings. You shall wait seven days until I come to you and show you what you should do." 9 Then it happened when he turned his back to leave Samuel, God changed his heart ; and all those signs came about on that day. 10 When they came to the hill there, behold, a group of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him mightily, so that he prophesied among them. 11 It came about, when all who knew him previously saw that he prophesied now with the prophets, that the people said to one another, "What has happened to the son of Kish ? Is Saul also among the prophets ?" 12 A man there said, "Now, who is their father ?" Therefore it became a proverb : "Is Saul also among the prophets ?" 13 When he had finished prophesying, he came to the high place.

THEOLOGICAL WORDBOOKS

1 CORINTHIANS 2:4-16 NASB 4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. 6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature ; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away ; 7 but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory ; 8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood ; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory ; 9 but just as it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM." 10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit ; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. 14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.
