2 Malawi is known as the “Warm Heart of Africa”.

3 Bordered by Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia, 20% of Malawi is covered by Lake Malawi(Lake Nyasa)

4 86% of Malawians live in villages and farm as many generations before them.

5 Famine and Aids have decreased the life expectancy from 57 years to 38 years as of 2007.

8 The Hospitals Blessings and Bottoms

9 Blessings Hospital Fact: Half of the world--nearly three billion people, live on less than 2 dollars a day.

10 Blessings Baby Ward Volunteers have painted and donated quilts.

12 This now works! TriMedx technicians repair radiology and monitoring equipment….. Al Morton, TriMedx, St Mary’s of Michigan

13 TriMedx techs take Inventory and Evaluate equipment for future repair…

14 Bottoms Maternity Hospital in Lilongwe Each mother brings her own food, caregiver, and garbage bag for cleanup.

15 TriMedx donated fans for the delivery rooms to Bottoms Hospital. Help is given to provide checkups to newborns and their mothers.

16 Mtendere Children's Village “Place of Peace”

17 A new day dawns over the Mtendere children's village---home to orphans from various villages of Malawi

18 The Village as of June 2007 Mtendere means “a Place of Peace”

19 Children now have a real bed, receive heath care and go to school. Each “house” has a house mother who is responsible for up to 20 children….

20 Older children help take care of younger children…. House Mothers doing daily chores

21 Preparing Meals at the Children’s Village is not an easy task…. A New Kitchen is in future plans…

22 Clothes and Shoe donations are used to provide warmth and dignity to the children of the village…..

23 Kelli Dottenwhy, TriMedx Mary Larkin, TriMedx Welcome dances and songs greet all visitors

24 Children in the village range in ages from 2 to 18.

25 Village Children attend school daily—where spiritual, educational and social needs are met.

26 The Vita-Meal Madilisto Food Production Plant Food Production Plant Goal: To ensure that all children of Malawi have adequate nutritional needs met on a daily basis.

27 VitaMeal is a maize and soy vitamin fortified powder which becomes a porridge meal.

28 Volunteers help with Vita-Meal Distribution Each bag will feed one child for one month
