+/- Equations Lessons 2-5 and 2-6
2
Warm-up 1)2 + ( 16 ÷ 2 2 ) x 5 – 14 = 2)(3 2 – 4) x 5 + 6 ÷ 2 = 3)12 – 6 + 14 – 7 = 4)36 ÷ 3 2 x 2 2 ÷ 4 = 8 28 13 4

Add to your glossary Inverse Operation: Pairs of operations that undo each other. Unit 4 Addition and subtraction are inverse operations. Multiplication and division are inverse operations.
4
Put into your notes Addition and Subtraction are opposite operations. They undo each other; example ofinverse operations. When you have an equation, such as; x + 15 = 21, you will subtract 15 from both sides. x + 15 = 21 - 15 x = 6
5
When you are doing your homework You must write the problem You must show the work What I want to see is: 47 = w - 42 + 42 89 = w
6
Examples for your notes p – 8 = 14 28 + s = 34 16 = x – 2
7
Kelli is saving money to buy a sweater that costs $34. She already has $12 saved. Write an equation to show how much more she needs to save. Use s as your variable. Solve. Example for your notes
