Vocab What is a prime number? What does it mean to “factor”
Prime Factorization: Finding which prime numbers multiply together to equal a particular number We factor these prime numbers out just like the factor ladder, or we can use a factor tree

Rules Each number only has ONE prime factorization.
Since 1 is neither prime nor composite, we do not use 1 in our factor string List the numbers from LEAST to GREATEST Numbers that occur more than once can be shown using exponents Exponent: Shows how many times to multiply the base times itself
