3 What are Hemispheres? Hemisphere – any one of four overlapping halves of Earth Four Hemispheres Northern Hemisphere Southern Hemisphere Eastern Hemisphere Western Hemisphere

4 Northern and Southern Hemisphere
The Northern and Southern Hemisphere are created by an imaginary east-west line known as the equator.

5 Eastern and Western Hemisphere
The Eastern and Western Hemisphere are created by an imaginary north-south line known as the prime meridian.

6 Latitude Latitude – imaginary parallel lines that run around Earth in an east-west direction; one of these lines is known as the Equator. Parallel – another name for a line of latitude

7 Longitude Longitude – imaginary lines that run in a north-south direction from one pole to another; one of these lines is known as the Prime Meridian Meridian – another name for a line of longitude

8 Global Grid Global Grid – a pattern of crossed lines formed by lines of latitude and lines of longitude.
