The Olympic Torch is coming…

Route Timings – Wednesday 27th The Torch arrives in Lincoln at 5:30pm Road closures will be in place from 4:30pm at the start of the route and between 5pm and 6pm on the rest of the route The Torch will arrive at the Evening Celebration at 6:50pm

Route Timings – Thursday 28th The Torch will depart Lincoln Cathedral just before 8am Road closures will be in place from 7:30am The Torch will then leave the City Boundary by approximately 8:30am

The Torch Will… Travel 6 miles around the City Take 8 minutes to travel past one spot 1,260 no waiting traffic cones will be used Have over 100 volunteers to help it through Have a different Torchbearer every 300 meters – 24 Torchbearers in total Greet 10,000 people at the Evening Celebration!

Kisses… When the Flame is handed over to a new Torchbearer along the route, the Torches will ‘kiss’ to pass the flame on!

Follow the Light A carnival of colours, light and performers will follow the Torch from Tritton Road to the Brayford, where a Festival of Light will take place! 100 local people will be part of the procession!

Prepare to be dazzled! As part of the Festival of Light around the Brayford and University, fireworks will light up the skies of Lincoln to celebrate the Torch staying with us overnight – one of the few cities it will do so!

A global audience will be watching Lincoln’s celebrations…. You can actually be part of it! Line the route! Come along to the Festival of Light at the Brayford! Join us at the Evening Celebration if you have tickets!
