Motto CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS FASTER HIGHER FASTER HIGHER STRONGER STRONGERCREED “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.”

Miga likes forest green. Miga likes adventure and so do I. I am most like Sumi because he is strong and likes the Paralympics and so do I. Sumi likes to help people! Sumi is an animal spirit but I am not. Sumi lives in Whistler, Canada. Her favourite colour is fern green and I like green too! Sumi has lots of inner strength and so do I. We both love hot cocoa and like to make it in the winter.

You've heard of people having sidekicks but have you ever heard of mascots having sidekicks! Mukmuk is not an official mascot; he is a cybernetic mascot. Mukmuk can only be found in cyberspace. Mukmuk loves to eat berries and mountain flowers! Mukmuk’s favourite color is berry orange! Mukmuk loves to sun bathe and hibernate. The name mukmuk comes from the Squamish name “muckamuck” which means “loves to eat”. Like me, Mukmuk is a dreamer too. Did you know that Mukmuk is a Vancouver Island Marmot? They are very rare and endangered. I’m sure you will see Mukmuk at the Olympic games cheering and supporting from cyberspace. People have tried to make him an official Olympic mascot but the online petition failed.

The 2010 OLYMPICS logo is based on the Canadian Inuit Inukshuk. The Vancouver 2010 Inukshuk mascot is called “Ilanaaq” which means “friend” in the Inuit Inukitut language. The inukshuk is a stone marker that the Inuit use to find their way in the Arctic. The blue and green represents the Canadian west coast islands, forests and mountain ranges. The red represents the Canadian maple leaf. The gold represents the beautiful sunrises in downtown Vancouver.
