In just a few days we will celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. When Jesus came some 2,000 years ago, He was born as the one and only God-Man who would die as payment for our sins. This first advent was characterized by Jesus Christ as a suffering Savior who died as a lamb to take away the sins of the world. After His resurrection He ascended to heaven with the promise that He would return again (Acts 1:11; John 14; Zech. 14:3-4; Mt. 24:27-31). Today’s sermon celebrates with anticipation that triumphant return when the Lamb of God will return as the Lion of Judah with power and justice.

During the reign of Rome a victorious general was given the privilege of riding upon a white horse down the Via Sacre the main street of Rome. Following the general would be his soldiers and the booty from their victories. When Christ returns, we will follow along with Him as both His prize and His victorious soldiers!

When Christ returns there will be no battle, but merely a judging of the wicked by the sword of the Lord. He will pluck from the earth the demonic leaders, the Beast and False Prophet, and will cast them alive into the Lake of Fire. He will then wipe immediately the enemies of God from the earth with the word of His mouth. Our God will be both judge and jury at this tribunal! Tribunal of Claudius at Rome
