Theseus’s Journey By: Sam Chase, Katharine Thibodeau, Carly Fagan, and Matt Lloyd

Original World Theseus grew up, raising himself without a father. “Theseus grew up to be strong, able, courageous, intelligent and wise”.

Call to Adventure Theseus’s mother brought him to his father’s rock, where he was called to begin his journey.

Acceptance of the call Theseus accepted the call for adventure.

Supernatural Aid/Amulets Theseus got his father’s sword he found at the rock. Theseus also got his father’s winged sandals he found at the rock.

Crossing the Threshold/ Gatekeeper’s Test When Theseus first traveled into Athens.

Tests and Ordeals On Theseus’s journey to Athens he encountered: 1-robber-club carrier 2-cinus-pine bender 3-wild, huge sow 4-Sceiron-scheming robber 5-King Ceryon 6-stretcher Theseus was able to beat all of these evil people. “The land route sheltered such a frightening collection of robbers and murderers that no man dared to rule them”.

Belly of the Whale When Theseus first encountered his father.

A tonement with Father Theseus had to prove who his father was during dinner. He used Aegeus’s sword he got at the rock, and the ring of Mino’s.

Meeting with the Goddess or Woman as Temptress Theseus met a goddess, Adriane. She helped him conquer the Minotaur by giving him a ball of thread that they attached to the door.

Refusal Of Return or Magic Flight or Rescue from Without Wanted to come home

Crossing the Return Threshold Came home on a boat. “Because Theseus was so confident that he would kill the Minotaur, Aegus gave the captain of the ship a white sail to be hoisted in place of the black one upon the return voyage if Theseus’s mission were successful”.

Apotheosis He took his dads place as king

Ultimate Boon/Elixir He became the hero and the king.
