Henderson 9/23/07 Lesson # 101 1 Romans 16:25 – 27 25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past, 26 but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.

Henderson 9/23/07 Lesson # 101 3 (A) Now to Him who is able to establish you is able - dynamai - "to be able, to have power," whether by virtue of one's own ability and resources, Vine see Rom. 8:38-39, Rom14:4 to establish - stērizō - "to fix, make fast, to set", is used of "establishing" or "stablishing" (i.e., the confirmation) of persons Vine see Rom. 1:11, 1 Thess 3:11-13 Now, to the One who is of power to establish you (Wuest)

Henderson 9/23/07 Lesson # 101 4 (1) according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, This is the first aspect of God’s establishing you gospel - euangelion - originally denoted a reward for good tidings; later, the idea of reward dropped, and the word stood for "the good news" itself. Vine my gospel is also found in Rom. 2:16 and 2 Tim 2:8 How did Paul learn about the gospel ? see Gal 1:11 preaching - "a proclamation by a herald", denotes "a message, a preaching" (the substance of what is "preached" as distinct from the act of "preaching"), Vine see 1 Cor 2:4 and 1 Cor 15:14

Henderson 9/23/07 Lesson # 101 5 (2) according to the revelation of the mystery This is the second aspect of God’s establishing you revelation - apokalypsis - "an uncovering" (akin to reveal, to uncover, to unveil). mystery - mysterion - In the NT it denotes, not the mysterious (as with the Eng. word), but that which, being outside the range of unassisted natural apprehension, can be made known only by Divine revelation. Vine What is the mystery ? see Eph. 3:1-7 the Gentiles are fellow heirs fellow members of the body, fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel

Henderson 9/23/07 Lesson # 101 6 (a) which has been kept secret for long ages past, This is the first aspect of the “revelation of the mystery” has been kept secret (in the perfect tense) secret - sigao - signifies - "to keep secret;" in the Passive Voice, "to be kept secret," Rom. 16:25, RV, "hath been kept in silence.” Vine also see Luke 9:36 long ages past (or in times eternal) according to the uncovering of the mystery which during eternal times has been kept in silence (Wuest)

What does “obedience of faith” mean? obedience - hypakoē (hypo, "under," akouō, "to hear"), is a listening under to God via His word. see Rom. 1:5 - 7 (Hal Molloy 10/23/05) - Obedience proceeds out from faith as a direct result or fruit - Chronologically & logically faith comes first, then obedience or yielding

Amen. only wise God (God alone wise) wise - sophos - spoken of God as surpassing all others in wisdom, being infinite in skill, insight, knowledge, purity Zodhiates be the glory forever Philippians 4:20 Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen. 2 Timothy 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
