SIX TYPES OF CONFLICTS PERSON VS PERSON PERSON VS FATE PERSON VS NATURE PERSON VS SOCIETY PERSON VS HIM/HERSELF PERSON VS TECHNOLOGY
4
PERSON VS PERSON A conflict between two or more characters. Example: Viking Jon and Viking Bob argued about who would take Petunia to the dance.
5
PERSON VS SELF A conflict occurring between a character and him/herself. Example: Bruce Banner fought as hard as he could to keep from turning into the Incredible Hulk, but it was no use. Example: The man thought and thought until is brain hurt. Why couldn’t he remember his locker combination?
6
PERSON VS NATURE A conflict between a character and nature. Example: The hurricane tore across the small town causing incredible damage.
7
PERSON VS SOCIETY A conflict between a character and the rest of society. Example: Les tried to explain his innocence, but no one listened.
8
PERSON VS FATE No matter how much I fight it… this is my fate! A conflict between the main character and something that is “meant to be.” (PERSON VS FATE conflicts can often be found in Greek mythology.) I’m tired of fighting crime day after day! But how can I let innocent people be harmed? Example: Spider-man was tired of fighting crime, but he knew he had no choice but to use his powers for good.
9
PERSON VS TECHNOLOGY A conflict between the main character and some form of technology Example: The man and the robot boxed for an hour straight!
