All rights reserved. 2009 Recent CPSIA Activity -December 24, 2008 – CPSC issues four proposed lead rulemakings addressing: -Exemptions -How to petition for future exemptions -Electronics -Inaccessibility -Comments Due Today -January 22, 2009 – AAFA holds a meeting with the CPSC to exempt textiles from the lead standard -January 30, 2009 – CPSC stays testing requirements -February 5, 2009 – NY District Court rules phthalate standard is retroactive, CPSC votes against stay of implementation of lead standard -February 6, 2009 – CPSC passes enforcement policy for lead standard -February 7, 2009 – CPSC issues testing guidance for phthalates -February 10, 2009 – CPSC issues guidance for small businesses -February 12, 2009 – CPSC issues draft guidance for phthalate standard

August 14, 2009 – Lead standard and lead in paint standard drop to 300ppm and 90ppm respectively (retroactive) August 14, 2009 – Tracking labels August 14, 2009 – Database plans submitted (database must be available before February 14, 2011) November 14, 2009 – CPSC initiated certification system enacted February 10, 2010 – Testing and certification stay lifted August 14, 2011 – Lead limit dropped again to 100ppm (retroactive)
