What wolfs eat depends on their habitat. Northern wolves eat moose, caribou, musk oxen and bison. Mountain wolves eat wild sheep. Forest wolves eat deer and elk.

Living in the wilderness wolves have to compete with other wolves to get food and territory. Wolves also have to protect their young from other predators. Humans are wolves’ most dangerous competition for food and territory.

Wolves wait for their prey to run so they don’t get hurt from the hooves of the prey. Wolves try to make the prey run. If the prey doesn’t run, the wolves soon leave and look for an easier prey.

Wolves have been in folk tales for a long time. Wolves are in a lot of folktales like “Little red riding hood”. Wolves in folktales sometimes get tricked, are evil or happy and helpful.
