6 CCTV SYSTEMS Outdoor cameras are subject to the environment and are typically heavy duty in their construction compared to the indoor enclosures.

7 CCTV SYSTEMS Some outdoor enclosures include camera mounts within the housing and also come with features like: Thermostats Blowers Heaters Defrosters Wiper blades. 9 9 CCTV SYSTEMS The housing can be delivered with a double sunshield as an extra isolation to avoid overheating from the sun rays. The sunshield is made as a clip on type to ease the cleaning and service of the camera housing. 10 10 CCTV SYSTEMS The housing can be delivered with a built-in camera housing heater, not the standard window heater, but a heater element that heats up the housing to the temperature selected on the thermostat. The heat from the element is ventilated around the housing with a fan. 12 12 CCTV SYSTEMS Fixed enclosures that are mounted to ceilings and walls permanently, do not provide camera mobility. However fixed enclosures can be outfitted with a motor to provide pan and tilt functions. Fixed enclosures that are mounted to ceilings and walls permanently, do not provide camera mobility. 13 13 CCTV SYSTEMS Corner enclosures mounted high in a corner with a wide angle lens provide good coverage.

14 CCTV SYSTEMS High security enclosures are often used in areas such as prisons, bank vaults, elevators and other areas where security is important.

15 CCTV SYSTEMS These types of enclosures can be bullet proof and often have tamper switches installed in the enclosures. Some enclosures even have speakers for two way communication between the camera site and the operator. 16 16 CCTV SYSTEMS There are a number of camera enclosures designed for special circumstances. here is an example of an explosion proof enclosure. There are a number of camera enclosures designed for special circumstances. here is an example of an explosion proof enclosure.

17 CCTV SYSTEMS Examples of specialty enclosures include: Explosion proof (previously shown) Dustproof Pressurized enclosures filled with nitrogen and sealed with the camera inside Bulletproof Extreme temp. 18 18 CCTV SYSTEMS dome enclosures are a type of specialty enclosure that includes transparent or tinted glass or a plastic bowl.

19 CCTV SYSTEMS A dome enclosure is either mounted on a pedestal or partially mounted in the ceiling. The glass is either tinted or reversed mirror to prevent people from seeing the camera inside for extra security. A dome enclosure is either mounted on a pedestal or partially mounted in the ceiling. 20 20 CCTV SYSTEMS Dome cameras are rated for either inside or outside and some are vandal/tamper proof. Clear domes should be used for low light surveillance applications. 21 21 CCTV SYSTEMS Camera mounts are as varied as the cameras themselves.

22 CCTV SYSTEMS Some of the things to consider when selecting camera mounts: Size and color (color may be a customer concern) Amount of articulation (how many angle adjustments. Strength (will it support the weight of the camera) Galvanized or weather proof for outdoor use. 23 23 CCTV SYSTEMS When mounting cameras the technician will need a cart to carry around a test monitor as well as tools and materials. You will also need test cables and adapters. 24 24 CCTV SYSTEMS You will use the monitor to establish the correct field of view as well as making adjustments to the focus especially if you’re using varifocal lenses. Obviously you will need a power transformer and an extension cord to power up the monitor and camera. 25 25 CCTV SYSTEMS A standard 13” or 19” TV can be used as a test monitor but you will need an F to BNC adapter to plug a camera cable into it. If the TV has RCA inputs you will need an RCA to BNC adapter. If you use a small flat screen LCD TV you will need a VGA to BNC adapter cable. 26 26 CCTV SYSTEMS Here is a sampling of adapters:

27 CCTV SYSTEMS Anchors kits and a cordless drill will be needed for installing camera mounts outdoors. MASONRY AND BRICK INSTALLS SHEET ROCK INSTALLS BLOCK WALLS, CONCRETE AND BRICK, NO ANCHOR REQUIRED, 800LB RATED

28 CCTV SYSTEMS When drilling into concrete or block walls it is a good idea to make one hole then mount your bracket and drill out the rest of the holes. This method insures that the holes line up, masonry bits have a tendency to roam on you when your drilling, by mounting the bracket with one hole you can avoid the misses. 29 29 CCTV SYSTEMS Dome cameras require an allen key to loosen the housing so that the FOV can be adjusted, the allen key usually comes with the cameras. PTZ cameras need to be mounted so that they can cover at least a 180 degree field of view without any obstructions and tree heights must be considered, remember that trees keep growing higher so make the necessary adjustments.
