Titles in French Monsieur (abbreviated M.) = Mr. Madame (abbreviated Mme.) = Mrs. Mademoiselle (abbreviated Mlle.) = Miss These titles are often used without a last name to greet people: Bonjour, Madame! Bonjour, Monsieur!

How to ask how someone is/feels Comment ça va? (How are you/ how are you doing?) Ça va? (Are you doing well?)

Responding to Comment ça va?: Ça va (très) bien. (I’m doing (very) well. Ça va. (I’m fine.) Ça va comme ci, comme ça. (I’m so-so.) Ça va (très) mal. (I’m doing (very) badly.) Pas mal. (Not bad.)

Asking someone’s name Comment t’appelles-tu? (What’s your name?) - Je m’appelle ____________. (My name is _______.)

Saying good-bye Au revoir! (Good-bye!) À bientôt! (See you soon!) À tout a l’heure! (See you very soon!) À demain! ( See you tomorrow!) Ciao! (Bye!)
