3 European Working Conditions Survey Geographical coverage (31 European Countries) 29680 workers interviewed, random walk, face to face interviews in people’s homes Fieldwork, Sep-Nov 2005 Revised questionnaire developed with the support of an expert questionnaire development group. 100+ questions and sub-questions Broad thematic coverage: Working time, physical / psychosocial risks, work organisation, work satisfaction, work-related health outcomes / absenteeism, non-work activities (domestic care, education etc)….

4 Main findings (Health & Safety) Workers in the new Member States report significantly higher risk levels than those in the EU 15 Physical and psychological risk factors of work have not reduced substantially Clear correlation between long and irregular working hours and increased work-related health problems
