Entity vs. Incremental Theory of Intelligence (Carol Dweck, Self Theories 1999) Entity: Fixed intelligence. Likes low-effort successes, outperforming others, hates looking unable so avoids failure. Effort = “I’m not clever”. Incremental: Malleable intelligence. ‘Have a go’, likes trying, stretching skills, putting knowledge to good use, intrigued by ‘failure’. Effort = “I’m really learning!”
