Estimating the Cost for a Foundation and Footing
2
The Foundation The Footing Calculate and Convert Vertical Rebar Horizontal Rebar Total Cost
3
The Foundation Base = 900 ft 2 (36 x 25 ft) Calculate the required concrete and reinforcing rod
4
Foundation 8in. thick 8ft high Volume of foundation = 8in. x 8ft x 122ft (perimeter) The Foundation
5
Footing 8in. thick 16in. wide Volume of footing = 8in. x 16in. x 122ft (perimeter) The Footing
6
Calculate and Convert Calculate Foundation Footing 759.0 ft 3 Convert Order 28.5 yards 3 for foundation system
7
Vertical Rebar A 10 ft long rebar piece is vertically placed every 3 ft How many 10 ft pieces are needed for a 122 ft perimeter? 41 pieces
8
Horizontal Rebar 6in. of each 10ft section of rebar is overlapped. Therefore assume a 9.5 ft length. Determine the number of pieces needed at 9.5ft. How many 10 ft pieces are needed for 4 rows with a 122 ft perimeter? Two rows of horizontal rebar are needed for the foundation and two for the footing. 52 pieces
9
Total Cost Concrete Cost 28.5 yards 3 x $98/yard 3 =$2,793.00 Rebar Cost 93 pieces x $4.75 =$441.75 Total Cost $2793.00 + $441.75 = $3,234.75 Note: This does not include labor, excavation, gravel, forming material, etc.
