The full name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom is an island country in the Atlantic ocean. The United Kingdom is situated in the Western Europe.

Great Britain is divided into three regions: Scotland, Wales and England.

Northern Ireland is one of four parts of the United Kingdom. It is located in the north- eastern part of the island of Ireland. It is the only one of the four regions of the United Kingdom which borders with land (The Republic of Ireland).

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. Its surface is 1570 km2. London has 8.278.251 people. Famous places in it are: -The London Eye -Big Ben -Buckingham Palace -Trafalgar Square -Natural History Museum

London Eye is known as the Millennium Wheel and the British Airways London Eye. It is located on the south bank of the river Thames near the bridge Westminster.

It was built as part of a new Westminster‘s Palace, because the old one was burned down in a fire on the night of 22nd October, 1834. The Tower is 96.3 meters high. The designer of the tower is Augustus Pugin.

The Thames flows through southern England, in the lower part passes through London and away from the North Sea. It is 346 km long. It is one of the most important water transport in England.

Loch Ness is a very deep lake. It‘s 226 meters deep in the middle. People say that a monster lives here. It was the basis for the film ‘‘Secret of Loch Ness“.
