2 MTAC WG 114 Main Workgroup –Plan to meet once every 4-6 weeks (full workgroup) –Meetings to include speakers/topics that pertain to all subgroups –Subgroup co-chairs to give update Subgroups –Meet as needed (telecon or in-person, location flexible) –Speakers/topics to be product-specific –Meeting notes to be available to full workgroup Workgroup Process

3 MTAC WG 114 Issue Statement: –The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (P.L. 109-435) requires the Postal Service to establish a set of service standards and a system of objective performance measurements for market dominant products. The proposed work group will be tasked with working in consultation with the Postal Regulatory Commission to meet the requirements of the law. Workgroup Mission

4 MTAC WG 114 Desired Results: –The workgroup will develop recommendations on service standards and potential measurement systems that effectively measure the service performance at the lowest combined costs to both the USPS and industry. Market-dominant products include: " First-Class Mail " Periodical mail " Standard mail " Single-Piece Package Services Targeted Completion Date: –September 20, 2007 Workgroup Mission

14 MTAC WG 114 Preliminary Focus: Service Standards –Review existing USPS service standards –Do they meet customer needs? If not, why not? What do customers want in terms of service standards for that product grouping? –How should products be grouped in terms of service standards? –Keep in mind that service measurement data can provide product-specific break outs within product groupings –Remember: USPS’ goal will be to meet these standards, and if doing so will be costly… Subgroups Break Out (cont’d)
