Addressing specific regional needs » allowing for different speeds and » tailor-made agenda-setting. Practical testing of possible solutions in a pro- active manner

Role is the same, but work will be different » Early implementation of FGs and NCs to discover best practices » Pilot projects to discover the need for harmonization in NCs » Moving ahead instead of waiting for a Europe- wide solution

Good results from this region in the past (transparency, DA Pilot, STC, investment)…. …are not a guarantee for success in the future.. Last years output has suffered as result of ‘competing’ work on EU-level. Points to work on: » Ensure broad stakeholder involvement » Be pro-active » Set an example for the other GRIs

Implementation of 12 priority corridors/areas, necessary to meet EU’s energy and climate policy goals by 2020 and beyond…. …by providing policy and regulatory certainty through a stable and appropriate regulatory framework to promote the necessary investments.

11 GRI NW Stakeholder Group Meeting – 25 November 2011 Process of identification of projects of common interest (PCI) – step by step 1)For each priority establishment of Regional Groups composed of MS representatives, NRAs, TSOs, Project promoters, Commission, ACER, ENTSOs ASAP 2) Project promoters to submit application to Groups ASAP 3) Groups to draw up a proposed list of PCIs: Based on criteria included in Art. 4 From 2014/2015: with new CBA (as part of TYNDPs) Projects shall be approved by concerned MS ASAP 4) Groups to transmit proposed list to ACER 31/1/2013 5) ACER to transmit opinion to the Commission 30/4/2013 6) Commission decision on Union-wide PCI list 31/7/2013 Process repeated every 2 years
