Essential Skills and Knowledge I can quantitatively, intuitively, and graphically investigate data via the scientific method and present my analysis in a formal lab report. I can use Newton’s Laws of motion to analyze complex systems. I can use the relationship between displacement, velocity, and acceleration to model projectile motion. I can apply the conservation of energy towards collisions, motion, and the transformation of energy. I can describe the movement of heat relative to material, mass, and temperature. I can explain and describe light as an electromagnetic phenomenon. I can describe the propagation of longitudinal and transverse waves. I can design, simplify, and interpret a battery-resistor circuit. I can describe the phenomena of electromagnetism and induction.

Classroom Procedures Late Work Turn in within one week Full credit for Essential Skills (70% of grade) Zero credit for Habits of Mind (30% of grade) Revisions Major assignments (projects, tests, lab reports) Must be turned in on time (not late) 2 week span to make revisions Office Hours Monday and Wednesday before school (8am-9am)

Class Pets Shadow (black guinea pig) La Luz (albino guinea pig) Only time you are allowed to play with them is during lunch or break Shadow has a tendency to bite if you hold her for too long La Luz is very shy and difficult to pick up
