All rights reserved.61 Modular Competitive Landscape  6500-E has limited compatibility between Chassis, Supervisors, Line Cards, & Software causing high TCO; ERS 8600 provides excellent investment protection  4500-E lacks the performance, 10G density & scalability compared to ERS 8300 that offers higher performance & 10G port density Cisco: Catalyst 6500-E claims to preserve investment for Core; Catalyst 4500-E offers advanced functions & performance for Aggregation  It is true that 8200zl & 5400zl are priced lower than ERS 8600 & ERS 8300 but Customers pay big penalties for getting less denser & resilient platforms as well as lower performance  The 3Com acquisition will add more advanced products but product rationalization in the progress HP ProCurve/3Com: 8200zl & 5400zl claims to provide the performance/density/scalability combined with low pricing to build their networks  EX 8200 is a year old platform that competes more with our VSP 9000 & will ship in 2H10. VSP 9000 will offer much higher switching architecture, 10G port density & ultra-resiliency. Juniper: EX 8200 claims to offer high performance, line rate 10G & common Juno OS

All rights reserved.62 Stackable Competitive Landscape  Stacking capacity is limited, only 32Gbps for the 3750 and marginally more for the 3750-E: compared to 1.152Tbps for the ERS 5600, and even 32Gbps for the entry-level 2500  Cisco places a lot of emphasis on Layer 3 at the Edge: this increases complexity, cost, & makes restoration more difficult Cisco: 3750 is the Stackable option; the 3750-E offers additional capacity; 2960 & 3560 are standalone-only  ProCurve doesn’t offer any genuine Stacking, just consolidated Management  3Com products are more advanced, with real Stacking  But the acquisition will ultimately force product rationalization HP ProCurve/3Com: Broad range offering typical but unspectacular functionality; 3Com is more advanced but the acquisition complicates things  Stacking capacity on the 4200 is good and Layer 3 is strong across the board, however Juniper do not have any unique high-availability solution  Emphasis on L3 increases costs, complexity, and makes restoration more difficult  Warranty is very uncompetitive Juniper: EX 4200 is high-end & Stackable; 2200 & 3200 are Standalone; 2500 is a Top-of- Rack option
