2 Timeline July 31,1965 Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born. 
In 1990, Joanne Rowling started to write Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone. Her first book won many awards, including the best book of 1998. In 1992, she married Jorge Arantes. In 1993, her daughter, Jessica, was born. In 1997, a book called Harry Potter Sorcerer’s stone. In 1998, the book was published.

3 Writing the book In 1990, Joanne Rowling started to write Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone. The book is about an 11-year old boy named Harry Potter who goes to a school called Hogwarts to learn how to become a wizard. The book became a best seller after it was published. In 1998 it was printed.

4 Childhood J.K Rowling was born July 31, 1965 in Bristol, England. She grew up in a place called Forest of Dean in England. She knew that she wanted to grow up and be a writer. At the age of six, she wrote her first book called Rabbit. Joanne loved to read! She went to Tutshill primary school.

5 Background Information
Her mom was a lab technician and her dad was a factory manager. She had a sister name Di short for Dianna. Joanne’s favorite book as a child was Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge.

6 Challenges Joanne's mom died soon after she started to write about Harry. Then Joanne lost her job. Joanne got public assistance but could not get child care for Jessica, her daughter. To make things worse Joanne's was a struggling writer and she lived in a tiny apartment that had no heat . Later on her luck got better.

7 Accomplishments She wrote the Harry Potter series, seven books in all.
Her first book won many awards, including the best book of 1998. In 1992, she married Jorge Arantes . In 1993, her daughter, Jessica, was born.
