RSVP is for volunteers 55 and older, and is sponsored by Tennessee Opportunities Program and is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the local community.

Several studies conducted on individuals 55 and older, across the country have indicated a relationship between volunteering and increased quality of life. Increased community involvement helps seniors to have a greater sense of self worth. Volunteering helps seniors to remain physically and socially active.

When you become part of RSVP you become part of a nationwide network of volunteer organizations with over 400,000 members. You are automatically covered by Liability, AD&D Life insurance, supplemental Health and Auto Insurance whenever you are volunteering as an RSVP volunteer, at no cost to you. Religious, political, and organized labor activities are not RSVP supported.

RSVP Stations are serving the Warren and Van Buren Counties at over 20 different locations with numerous opportunities to serve. Food delivery to the needy, this involves gathering supplies, preparing the meals, and ultimately delivering the meals, with help needed at every step. In a recent survey some of the clients indicated the food delivery was the only time they saw anyone. FUMC and Meals on Wheels deliver several thousand meals each year.

Red Cross blood drives, assist in helping the patrons, providing snacks or information. Help residents of nursing homes relieve their loneliness, by visiting with them, reading books, or playing games. McMinnville Boarding House, Riverview Terrace and Raintree Manor are always needing new volunteers.

Food Banks and clothing room. Gathering Food, Stocking shelves, arranging and hanging clothing. The Warren County Food Bank and the CCC both have food. The CCC has a clothing room, they are always in need of good volunteers.

Make Quilts for those who have lost everything. Learn quilting and do something for someone in need at the same time. East End Quilters and the quilting ladies at the CCC meet at least twice each month and produce beautiful quilts for people in need.

Help with supplies for those in Hospice care. Caring Hearts United is involved in gathering supplies, fund raising and delivering those supplies to individuals who are in need and under hospice care. The Hope Center helps those in crisis, with life management, counseling and other personal development needs.

The Honor Guard is always looking for veterans to serve in their educational and grave side programs. Morrison, Magness and VB county libraries need volunteers to help handling books and computers. Riverpark Hospital needs volunteers to provide information and assistance to patients.

Warren County Schools has ten different schools and libraries that need volunteers to help in a number of activities (from Pre-K to high school). * To work in the school system you’ll need to go through their background check protocol. *

RSVP Advisory Council has need for the willing and the committed volunteers to help guide and lead the program.

Community Gardens in a number of locations, utilizing organic gardening techniques, as well as, heirloom (non-gmo) plants. Providing a healthily natural approach to food production.

Cooking classes and plenty of good stuff to go around, as well as, a beautiful place to think.

The Van Buren County Senior Center is the county hub of volunteering with volunteers helping the Red Cross, Food Bank, and Senior Center programs. Bring your ideas where the community needs help. Bring your enthusiasm and drive to help the RSVP to keep growing and helping Warren and Van Buren Counties to move into a brighter future.

The newest addition to the RSVP is with the Kids of the Community organization, helping to create a stable environment for at risk children in our area. A safe place where children can be helped with homework, work in the garden, have good wholesome meals and have interesting and fun events to look forward to and participate in.
