1 SPECIES 2015 “TRANSFORMED”

2 SCHOOL OF BIOTECHNOLOGY & BIOINFORMATICS was established in June 2003 with a vision to provide quality in all spheres of higher learning in general and health services. Our experienced and well- qualified faculty work to impart and disseminate knowledge and develop theoretical and technical competencies. One of the main mission is to provide for research and development in the emerging areas of science and technology. Our school is a perfect blend of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering which provide a apt platform for students to explore various frontiers of science. E fficient research lab and library facilities equipped for various courses from Graduate, Post Graduate to Ph.D. level are maintained.

3 SPECIES Is the cultural festival of the School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics; the past five events have always managed to gather crowds in multiple thousands with a variety of events that cater to the hobbies and likes of all the various students of the several departments. SPECIES brings one of the largest gatherings of ambitious, go-getting & dynamic collegians to the most dynamic Urban Space in India, Navi Mumbai. Species has earlier been conducted on a variety of themes such as CASTLE, PIRATES and VILLAGE with each event being framed and successfully conducted showcasing the formatted idea. Our fest is a three day celebration with full on masti, cheer and colour to the campus with all hidden talents coming to the fore.

4 THEME: VI th SPECIES The theme that will be based and explored this time is “TRANSFORMED”. This theme has been chosen to represent the amalgamation of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, the cornerstones of our school. With respect to Biotechnology transformed will stand for any new feature/trait/gene that is taken up an organism for evolution and speciation. For the automobile fanatics of biomedical engineering, it may relate to the Sci-fi fictional movie series TRANSFORMERS. The coding and artificial intelligence within Bioinformatics discipline will justify the theme in its own way. In a different angle the theme also means that this event would prove as a platform to “transform” be into an extroverts, an orator, a performer or beauty queen/king.
