How do I coach? PNP sandwich Positive statement Pick something the player is doing well Negative correction Give player something they could improve on Positive ending Remind player of positives he/she is accomplishing

U-6 Line-ups: NO Goalies Probably 2-1-2 2 defenders – 1 midfield – 2 forwards Provides great triangle passing situations Defenders play on defensive half Midfielder plays entire field Forwards play bottom of the circle to goal- line

U-6 Points of Emphasis Kicking the ball properly Inside of foot for accuracy Passing Look for open teammates Spread out Position play NOT mob ball

U-8 Line-ups: Goalie Probably 3-1-3-1 3 defenders – 1 defensive midfield Defenders play on defensive half Defensive midfielder plays D and attacks up to bottom of circle 3 midfielders - 1 forward Midfielders play entire field Forwards play defense from bottom of the circle to attacking goal-line Provides great triangle passing situations

U-8 Points of Emphasis Kicking the ball properly Inside of foot for accuracy Passing Head up finding open teammates Staying in positions Spread out and keep passing lanes open

U-10 Lineup Probably 3-1-3-2 3 defenders – 1 defensive midfielder Defenders play defense and begin to cover for each other 3 midfielders – 2 forwards Primarily offense, although midfield plays both Provides great triangle passing situations

U-10 Points of Emphasis Team work and positions Can start “switching” positions Proper throw-ins Both feet down – both hands over the head Free kicks Set plays off of free kicks
