6. A gifted person will possess many of the following traits: CURIOUS- CURIOUS- Often asks questions: Who? What? How? and Why? Is is excited and interested and ready for adventure. FLUENT & FLEXIBLE- FLUENT & FLEXIBLE-This child generates a large number of ideas or solutions to problems. How can we use this shoe? How many things can you name that are green? ORIGINALITY- ORIGINALITY-Shows this child is not afraid of being different, has unique ideas and sometimes even considered zany. Dress, behavior and sense of humor. ELABORATES ELABORATES-builds on ideas or a classmates’ ideas. Can add details that no one else thinks about. IMAGINATIVE IMAGINATIVE-fantasizes often and is fanciful, not always realistic. PERSISTENT PERSISTENT-has a HIGH DEGREE of concentration, doesn’t give up, loves a challenge and doesn’t back down or withdraw from one. Sees a task through to completion. AWARE- AWARE-Alert, notices the world around him/her. Probably has a large knowledge base about many different topics. May be keenly aware of local, state, national, or world events. (Wars, Natural Disasters, etc)

10. In addition to the Creativity, Intelligence, and Achievement Tests, consideration should be given to the information the child’s teacher can contribute.

11.  At grades 3 & 4, a collection of the child’s work should be considered. Examples of work could be: assignments, stories, pictures of Science Fair Displays, Lego creations, etc.  Portfolios should be returned.
