1 GRADING AND DAYLIGHTING  The Daylighting commands calculate slope daylighting from a polyline footprint to a surface.  A 2D or 3D polyline with elevational information is used to represent the footprint.  Additional vertices can be added to the polyline for increased daylight line sampling.  Based on the polyline footprint elevations and the assigned slope information, the daylight line is calculated at each vertex to a selected daylight target surface.

3 SELECT THE POLYLINE TO ADD VERTICES SET THE DISTANCE TO ADD VERTICES Daylighting (Cont.)

4 “YES” TO ERASE OLD OBJECT. AUTOCAD DRAWS A NEW LINE ON A SEPARATE LAYER. Daylighting (Cont.)

5 REPEAT PROCESS OF ADDING VERTICES TO ALL LINES TO BE DAYLIGHTED. Daylighting (Cont.)

6 IF YOU CLICK ON THE LINES VERTICES SHOULD APPEAR EVERY ___’ APART. Daylighting (Cont.)

7 SELECT THE EXISTING GROUND SURFACE AT THIS PROMPT. GRADING DAYLIGHTING SELECT DAYLIGHT SURFACE Daylighting (Cont.)

8 Grading Daylighting Create Single Daylighting (Cont.)

9 SELECT ONE LINE Daylighting (Cont.)

10 PUT CURSOR ON THE SIDE YOU WANT TO DAYLIGHT. Daylighting (Cont.)

11 ENTER THE CUT SLOPE FOR THE SIDE SELECTED. Daylighting (Cont.)

12 ENTER THE FILL SLOPE FOR THE SIDE SELECTED. Daylighting (Cont.)

13 CROSS HATCHES APPEAR WHERE THE DAYLIGHT SLOPE INTERSECTS THE EXISTING GROUND Daylighting (Cont.)

14 REPEAT PROCESS FOR REMAINING LINES SELECT THE NEXT LINE AND THE SIDE TO OFFSET IT. Daylighting (Cont.)

15 ENTER CUT AND FILL SLOPES Daylighting (Cont.)

16 AUTOCAD WILL PROMPT TO SELECT ANOTHER LINE, ENTER IF ALL HAVE BEEN SELECTED Daylighting (Cont.)

17 DON’T BE CONCERNED WHEN ZOOMING IN OR OUT IF THE CROSS HATCHES DISAPPEAR. Daylighting (Cont.)
