AvH Research Fellowships resident outside Germany The main goal: to carry out a research stay at scientific host institution in Germany Conditions for applying: - doctorate and/or research work over several years, convincingly demonstrated by publications in internationally recognised academic journals - researcher needs to identify academic host in Germany, and agree details of research projects and schedule prior to submission of applications

Funding and duration: Funding between €2,100 and €3,000 per month Additionally may be covered: contribution to health insurance, travel expenses, German language course, allowances for spouses and children, conferences and travel allowances Duration – 6 to 12 months Applications can be submitted at any time, selection takes place in March, July and November

11. Roman Herzog Research Fellowships The main goal: an initiative of AvH and the non-profit Hertie Foundation to enable young highly qualified scientists and scholars to carry out research projects in Germany Conditions for applying: - doctorate or comparable academic degree (PhD, C.Sc. Or equivalent) and/or research work over several years, proven through publications in recognised scientific journals - age limit: 35 years !!!

12. Funding and duration: Monthly research fellowship rates range between €1,600 and €2,100 Additionally may be covered: contribution to health insurance, travel expenses, German language course, allowances for spouses and children, conferences and travel allowances Duration: between 6 and 12 months

13. Return Fellowships for Research Fellows from CEECs (AvH and Hertie Foundation ) The main goal: To support the reintegration of research fellows after finishing their research periods in Germany, by providing financial assistance to carry out research in the home country

14. Conditions for applying: - applications should be submitted no earlier than 3 months before the end of the research stay and later than 6 months after completion of the research stay - return fellowship must be taken up no later than 12 months after end of the initial stay - work schedule - reference from the academic host in Germany - list of publications produced during the research stay - confirmation by the institution in the home country that a workplace will be provided

15. Funding and duration: Financial support of €500 per month is possible for 12 months (the total €6,000 is paid in two instalments, at the beginning and after submission of a brief interim report after 6 months) €500 for scientific literature

Visegrad Scholarship Programme The VSP is a specific programme of the International Visegrad Fund created for the purpose of facilitating academic exchanges by providing financial support for applicant who are citizens of the States of Contracing Parties and for foreign citizens to study in the Member States of Contracting Parties.
