CAVE LION The cave lion lived from 370,000 to 10,000 years ago when it became extinct.
22
CASPIAN TIGER The Caspian tiger or Persian tiger was the westernmost subspecies of tigers found in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Caucasus, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Although it apparently became extinct in the late 1950s, there have been several alleged sightings of the tiger.
23
TASMANIAN TIGER The Tasmanian Tiger was the largest known carnivorous marsupial of modern time. Native to Australia and New Guinea, it is thought to have become extinct in the 20th century.
24
AUROCH The Auroch was a very large type of cattle. It has been extinct since 1627.
25
GREAT AUK The Great Auk was the first species of bird to disappear during historical times in North American. Its extinction was not a natural one like the disappearance of saber-toothed tigers or dinosaurs that once roamed parts of this continent. The Great Auk is lost forever because of human greed and a complete disrespect for nature.
26
IRISH DEER The Irish Deer is the largest deer that ever lived. It became extinct about 7700 years ago
27
QUAGGA The last wild quagga was probably shot in the late 1870s, and the last specimen in captivity, a mare, died on August 12, 1883 at the Artis Magistra Zoo in Amsterdam. The quagga was the first extinct creature to have its DNA studied.
28
STELLER’S SEA COW Steller’s Sea Cow was a mammal which ate vegetation and adapted to living entirely in the water. The last Sea cow died purportedly on an island in the Bering sea in 1768.
29
SABRE TOOTH SALMON Twelve million years ago there was a species of Pacific salmon that weighed about 400 pounds and reached 8-10 feet in length.
