The Dutch flag has the colours: red, white and blue. The colours are in horizontal stripes. Red stands for hardiness, bravery, strength and valour. White stands for peace and honesty. Blue stands for vigilance, truth & loyalty and perseverance & justice.

History of the Dutch flag The first known Dutch flag came out 1572 and had the colours: orange, white and blue. There are a couple of explantations about why the orange stripe became red. In 1796 the red stripe is became a part of the flag and was the replacement of the orange stripe. On february the 19th Queen Wilhelmina signed a contract that the official colours of the Dutch flag are red, white and blue.

SLOVENIAN FLAG

The Slovenian flag has the same colours as the Dutch flag; white, blue and red. The colours are also in horizontal stripes. White, blue and red are Slavic colours.

Slovenian coat of arms The six-pointed stars are the symbols of the counts of Celje. The two wavy blue lines represent the country's rivers flowing into the sea. The white mountain represents our highest peak – Triglav.

History of the Slovenian flag In 1848 the Slovenian people used the flag for the first time, but it didn’t has a official function. It was a white-blue-red flag based on the Russian flag. The white-blue-red flag was in 1945 the base of the first official Slovenian flag. As part republic of Yugoslavia, Slovenia used between 1945 and 1990 a flag with white-blue and red with a Yugoslavias star in the middle.
