3 The Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology FAAST is a non-profit organization funded by the U.S. Department of Education Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) through the Assistive Technology Act of 2004 and the State of Florida Department of Education Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

4 FAAST Mission Our Mission is to improve the quality of life for all Floridians with disabilities through advocacy and awareness activities that increase access to and acquisition of assistive services and technology. The core work of FAAST’s mission is achieved through Regional Demonstration Centers throughout the state.

15 FAAST ARDC Services Augmentative and Alternative Communication Assessments –Process aiming to identify appropriate augmentative or alternative means of communication for individuals who cannot meet all of their communication needs using natural speech

16 FAAST ARDC Services Augmentative and Alternative Communication Assessments –Process involves: Speech-language-cognitive testing Interviews with family members, related professionals Natural environment observations Trials with a variety of devices Written report for therapeutic &/or funding purposes

18 FAAST ARDC Services AAC Therapy –Bi-weekly therapy sessions designed to work toward effective application of AAC in home, school, community environments –Graduate SLP Clinicians –Direct Supervision – Licensed and Certified Speech-Language Pathologist

19 FAAST ARDC Services Special Programs –Technology in the FAAST Lane Parent-Child Summer Day Camp Emphasis on young children, middle schoolers or high schoolers – depending on the year Focus on school-related AT & AAC –iCan Communicate Collaboration with Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida Mini assessments to determine identify relevant communication apps.
