3. Components of SARC  The standards (VA SOL) describe what a student should know and be able to do.  The standards-aligned curriculum directs the teachers ensuring that the instruction addresses the standards  Assessments measure the extent to which a student has mastered essential skills  The report card allows the teacher to communicate a student’s progress toward meeting standards at regular intervals throughout the school year.

E = Exceeds Standard: In addition to meeting the standard, the student makes application beyond grade level expectations, M = Meets Standard: Student consistently meets and demonstrates mastery of current grade level expectations P = Progressing Towards Standard With assistance, student demonstrates partial mastery of current grade level expectations B = Below Standard: With assistance, student struggles to demonstrate partial mastery of current grade level expectations ● = Denotes knowledge or skill not assessed at this time
