You will have a vocab quiz on Friday – the vocab worksheet will also be due, completed, on Friday! We’ll review tomorrow, so make sure you are looking over your definitions.

Switching Gears… For the last 2 weeks, we have been discussing what life is like for those who don’t have what they consider to be enough money! Today, we are going to look at the other side of money – those who have and don’t have to worry about spending! We are going to be reading a short story titled, “The Princess and the Tin Box,” by James Thurber! It is what we call a “parody” because it is making fun of a certain human trait!

Parodies… I’m going to show you a set of clips of two different scenes. 1 clip is the dramatic version and the other is a parodied version of the same scene. As you watch, decide what the differences are that make one drama and the other a parody!

Fairy Tales… Turn to page 766 – we are going to read the short story, “The Princess and the Tin Box,” by James Thurber! As you read, you need to fill out the notes about the 5 princes that are involved! You also want to look at what human trait you feel Thurber is making a comment about!
