2 Engaging the Community for 10 Years The Early Years 2002-2004 December – in separate effort, Save Our Schools is launched by Minneapolis parents. August – The name Parents United for Public Schools is chosen April 2002 – Parents from 20 MN school districts form a statewide parent group.

3 Engaging the Community for 10 Years The Early Years 2002-2004 “No New Taxes” Pledge dominates political campaigns in Minnesota in 2002.

4 Engaging the Community for 10 Years The Early Years 2002-2004 The Legislative response to the budget deficit results in deep cuts to education.

5 Engaging the Community for 10 Years The Early Years 2002-2004 Mary Cecconi is hired as Executive Director of Parents United.

6 Engaging the Community for 10 Years The Early Years 2002-2004 Parents United launches website and begins sending weekly e-mail updates. Parents United secures web manager Jennifer Armstrong.
