Belshazzar 540-539 BC Belshazzar’s existence in archaeological record not known until 1861 when the Nabonidus Cylinder was found. 1878 the Nabonidus Chronicle also found and specified that Nabonidus appointed his son Belshazzar King of Babylon while he was away fighting Persians.

On an old caravan road from Babylon to Ecbatana, the ancient capitol of Median, there is a carving on a mountain side made by Darius the Mede dated at 515 B.C. Its called the Behistun Rock. The inscriptions on the Behistun Rock were in three languages, Babylonian (Chaldean), Elamite (Susian), and Persian.
