Project Description Key Objectives  Debug I2C communication interface  Design & integrate sensor circuitry  Design & Implement redundant safety features  Design simple transport mode  Incorporate ride vibration mitigation  Fabricate and assemble prototype  Modify electronics to address known issues Mission  Integrate existing hardware with newly designed subsystems to deliver functional prototype ready for software development

Design Concept Safety Chain guards Emergency stop buttons Bumper System Enclosure Transparent & water resistant electronics box Transport Collapsible handle Drivetrain disengagement Modularity Fully modular bolted connection architecture Sensor Suite Sonar Infrared Bump Photodiode GPS Accelerometer Moisture sensor Temperature Motor Encoders

Design Concept: Electronics Architecture Beagleboard Computer Motor Control Microcontroller Motors Shaft Encoders Plant Care Microcontroller Water Pump Moisture Photo diode Temperature Navigation Microcontroller Compass Accelerometer High Level Control / Decision Making Input / Command Interpretation Input / Output Devices

Critical Risk Assessment  Risk: Difficulty producing I2C functionality Hardware and software incompatibilities and flaws produced multiple roadblocks Roadblocks pushed back electrical & test schedules Learning curve for electronics system very steep Mitigation: Investigated alternate beagleboard OS Mitigation: Replaced I2C hardware to ensure proper configuration  Mitigations were unsuccessful for an extended period – required revising of project goals

State of Project  Design meets all customer needs  Mechanical systems complete on schedule Motors and water pump function as designed  Electronics 2-3 weeks behind schedule Multiple issues encountered ○ Hardware issues ○ Software incompatibility  Cost: $500 under budget

Future Direction  P11216 team has received customer and P11215 input on feature addition and optimization Water based vandal deterrent system Optimization of sonar placement and actuation Design and implementation of personality software Plant expansion system LCD placement & function plan
