Landi Systems Overview
Landi designs and produces “ready to go” LPG / CNG systems covering OEM and aftermarket installation Any type of alternative fuel from LPG to CNG and CNG hydrogen mixture Landi focuses on optimising the installation process, engine endurance, vehicle performance and exhaust emissions CNG/LPG systems mainly consist of the following components: Pressure reducers and vaporizer (only LPG) Valves / electrical valves Injectors Electronic control units Switches Air / fuel mixers Landi does not produce the tank Landi gas fuel systems are installed “on top” of the existing petrol fuel system, allowing the vehicle to be operated by both fuels

Omegas system features

The last generation car technological level represents a new challenge for the producer of LPG and CNG converting systems, due to emission levels, diagnostic devices required by the new laws, performance and driving desired by the costumers. These facts drove LANDIRENZO to project OMEGAS, the new LPG and CNG sequential multipoint “corrector” injection system with electro-injectors. The components of OMEGAS are designed by LANDIRENZO in order to be qualified like standard O.E.M. components, with the possibility to be tailored according to the specific requirements.
19
It’s a gaseous, phased, multi-point sequential injection system:
Gaseous: the system injects gaseous fuels (like LPG or CNG) into the intake manifolds, the closest possible to the intake valves of the cylinders; Multi-point: The gas is injected very close to the intake port of each cylinder Phased: the injection feed each cylinder phased with the position of the piston position Sequential: the cylinders receive the gas one after the other, according to the engine cycle phase in which they are. System is suitable for: Full group injection system Semi sequential injection system Sequential injection system
21
OMEGAS CONTROL SYSTEM The control system is slave type ECU. This means that the petrol ECU remains fully operational and calculates the petrol injectors injection timing according to the signals given by the car sensors (lambda sensor signal being the most important one); Using some more sensor signals and the relative appropriate algorithms, Omegas processes these petrol ECU outputs as inputs, to obtain the correct gas injectors injection timing from petrol ones; Omegas, then, takes care to physically avoid petrol injection uncoupling the petrol injectors.
22
Operating strategy, petrol injectors uncoupling
Driving signals of injectors Operating strategy, petrol injectors uncoupling Petrol ECU Power supplies of injectors (+15 V) Uncoupling relay Uncoupling impedance Omegas ECU Petrol injectors
24
Operating strategy: master/slave system
Master ECU (petrol one) doesn’t know about new ECU; it works also in gas mode and all diagnosis are performed (the same running in petrol mode) EOBD diag (misfire, catalyst, oxygen sensor,…) will be done by master ECU in both mode (petrol and gas). With EOBD tester is possible to check diag. stored with standard PCODE and freeze frame as when a fault occurs in petrol mode. In addition LANDIRENZO ECU is capable to perform electrical and functional diagnosis on proper sensor/actuator set. Fault detected by LANDIRENZO ECU are stored into an internal memory; by calibration they can be evidenced to the driver with a buzzer/LED blinking code on the switch and major faults produce a switch back to petrol mode. © LANDI RENZO SPA CONFIDENTIAL 24
25
Omegas System is not suitable for these engines
Single point injection system Multipoint injection car without oxygen sensor (system would work but it’s very difficult to calibrate so it’s better avoid unless necessary) Direct injection engines like VW group FSI and TFSI engine Alfa JTS engines Mitsubishi GDI BMW new IS engines It’s possible retrofit some of these engine by the new “Omegas Direct System”

Kit/Minikit main components Available but not included in the kit
Pressure regulator/LPG converter (different one depending on the kit) Filter (Fly-One or FT375 depending on the kit) Injectors Rail (MED RGI injectors) with integrated T/P sensor Electronic Control Unit Omegas Main Wiring Switch Standard intake nozzles Available but not included in the kit External coolant temperature sensor Petrol injector uncoupling harness available in different type
27
PRESSURE / TEMPERATURE GAS SENSOR
The pressure sensor inform the ECU gas on the absolute pressure (Bosch sensor) in the injector rail. It’s integrated in the injector rail and doesn’t need any further adjustment
28
NOZZLE The nozzle is threaded to the suction manifold and connected to the injectors by means of a suitable tube. M6X1

OPTIONAL NOZZLES Internal Nozzle M8X1
30
Coolant temperature signal
The coolant temperature signal is used to have a precise information about the engine temperature during the warm up and the normally run to gas. Is possible: read to original temperature sensor (in the software is present a procedure that allow to parameterize the original sensor of the car). read the temperature with an additional T sensor not included in a KIT. In case of temperature sensor not connected the engine will activate a recovery procedure which manage the switch on the gas temperature but is much safer, especially in cold climate, have the correct value of the coolant temperature Original Water Sensor Wire to connect to gas harness
31
TEMPERATURE SENSOR (optional)
The water temperature sensor is fitted on the water pipe just before the gas pressure regulator. The signal transmitted to the GAS ECU is necessary for the correct work of the system.
32
Wire to connect to gas harness
MAP SIGNAL The MAP signal is used to have a precise information about the manifold pressure. This signal is directly read to original MAP sensor of the car. In the software is present a procedure that allow to parameterize the sensor. If isn’t present the MAP sensor in the software is present other strategy to manage the return to gas when the gas tank is empty. It’s possible by set an cylinder ECU to make it working in 3-4 cylinder engine but it’s needed to use the cylinder harness
42
SWITCHER The new switch has the same function of the previous model.
A new “buzzer” is inserted to inform the driver of the change over to petrol when the gas is finishing.
44
How to access to ECU’s internal memory
Diagnosis stored in internal memory are visible (and resettable) with a dedicated LANDIRENZO tool (Omegas Tool) connected on the RS232 serial port 44
