Grades of (bio)diesel There are no grades of biodiesel, there are blends of biodiesel. Biodiesel is made up of diesel, which has grades.

Grades of Diesel

Blends of Biodiesel ASTM (American Society of Testing Materials) define regulations for all fuels in the US, including biodiesel blends: B100—100% Biodiesel B20—20% biodiesel and 80% petrol-diesel fuel. B5—5% biodiesel 95% petrol-diesel B2—2% biodiesel 98% petrol-diesel

Conclusion There are two types of grades: Grade 1 and Grade 2. Both have low sulfur content. There are three common ASTM approved blends of Biodiesel: B20, B5 and B2. B20 is the most commonly used. Confusion lies in switching between biodiesel and diesel and biodiesel use verses biodiesel grades.
