The Reflexive Practitioner Nottingham Trent University, Kingston University Enquired into the value of professional practitioners in the the curriculum Used qualitative research involving semi-structured interviews with practitioners teaching fine art Additional research involved PGCert design student interviews Created a website with videos of the interviews, dividing the questions into debatable themes The website acts as a growing resource to link the debate on artists in education with verbatim accounts of artist-educator experiences

10x10 Artswork, BathSpa University Held a series of workshops designed for teacher- practitioners These were designed to develop a body of material and explore professional development needs Employed different techniques, such as drawing and performance, with different facilitators Offered ‘non-HE’ spaces in which to see things differently Examined the ways that education and practice educate and inform each other

Visiting Design Professionals Creative Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University Arose from a UK Design Skills Alliance proposal to support the development and delivery of industry-relevant curricula Examined the nature and extent of design professionals’ interaction with education Identified a range of companies, individuals and organisations in north-west England with and without involvement in art education Recorded interviews investigating perceived barriers to and benefits of such involvement Focus group discussion identified fruitful areas for collaboration and produced recommendations for both industry and HE institutions
