8 JANUARY 9, 2002 STUDY ASSUMPTIONS Significant modifications to the elevation or alignment will not be made Corridor will not be filled in or covered Alternatives will be progressed to re- engineer the corridor such that it will fit in better with the surrounding area

9 JANUARY 9, 2002 EXISTING CONDITIONS Traffic –Functionally classified as an urban principal arterial expressway –Average annual daily traffic is up to 55,000 vehicles per day –The Parkside intersection operates at a poor level of service –Pedestrian/bicyclist access to separate portions of the park is problematic Safety –A high volume of rear end accidents at Lincoln Park EB entrance ramp, Nottingham ramp, Delaware Avenue EB entrance ramps, and Agassiz Circle –Conflicts between pedestrian/bicyclists and motor vehicles at crossings Aesthetics
