5. History / Discovery In 1831, a Swedish chemist, Nils Gabriel Sefström isolated a new oxide This turned out to be the same element that del Rio had found He named it Vanadis In 1867, Henry Enfield managed to make a metallic vanadium

6. Looks Hard grey metal It has a shiny look that reflects light Can be a reddish gold powder Can be beaten into flat shapes
