Defense The defending teams job is to get 3 outs so they can bat or become the offensive team. How to get outs: 1. Pitcher can strike a batter out 2. Any fielder catches a ball that is hit in the air before it touches the ground. 3. Force a runner out that has hit the ball or was on base. 4. Tag a runner with the ball who is not on a base.
6
OFFENSE The offensive player will stand in the batting area and attempt to hit a ball that is pitched underhand to them. Once a ball is struck the batter runs to first base or takes as many bases as the hit allows them to safely advance to. The ultimate goal of the offense is to make it around all of the bases and back to home plate. Once that occurs a point, known as a RUN is awarded the offensive team.

BATTING( Offense) A batter stands in the “Batters Box” on either side of home plate Strike = a ball that is pitched over the plate between the shoulders and knees. A strike can also be a ball that a batter swings at and misses. A batter gets 3 strikes before they are out Ball = any ball pitched outside of the strike zone. A batter gets 4 balls before the are “walked” Foul Ball - any ball that is hit outside the lines of the field.
