$2,500 RAeS William ‘Bill’ Boeing- Jr. Scholarship Application Criteria: ◦Must be a graduating Senior planning to pursue a college degree related to aviation (engineering, aerospace studies, computer science, etc.) ◦Must have a 3.5 GPA or better (submit copy of transcript for proof) ◦Must write a one page essay explaining how Bill Boeing Jr’s legacy has inspired you to pursue an education related to aviation ◦Include Separate Cover Page for each submission (see slide 4) ◦Only one submission per applicant accepted. Students can apply to both Boeing/Taylor Scholarships, separate essay required for each. ◦Printed Cover page/Essay/Transcript due to the RAHS Career Center on 1 May 2015. Late submissions will not be accepted ◦Winners will be notified during the month of May ◦Scholarship Check will be presented at the May RAHS Scholarship Award Ceremony ◦Scholarship Check can be used for tuition, School Fees, or Supplies (computer, books, etc.)

William ‘Bill’ Boeing- Jr. Background “Education is the key thing. It’s fun to see young people come to places like the Museum of Flight and see their faces light up and know that one day designing, building or flying airplanes might be their job.” – Bill Boeing Jr. (November 22, 1922 – January 8, 2015) Bill Boeing-Jr. was known for his philanthropic support of education, the University of Washington, Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Museum of Flight. Though he never worked The Boeing Company, he helped the Museum of Flight secure the Red Barn, the original Boeing plant in Seattle.

Captain Richard (Dick) Taylor-Sr. Background Captain Richard (Dick) Taylor was an airplane designer, test pilot, aerospace executive and active pilot. Joined Boeing in 1946 as a design engineer and later held a number of flight test posts, including project test pilot for the B-47 Stratojet. Holds nine world speed records. Retired from The Boeing Company in 1991 after 45 years of service. Continues to contribute to advances in aviation safety and operational flexibility and efficiency in his sixth decade as an active pilot.
