What is iPrepare? iPrepare campaign aims to raise public awareness of disaster preparedness The campaign pilots in Vietnam in the spring 2014 Students can contribute by writing a news report on how their own community prepares for natural hazards Message: Everyone can contribute to disaster preparedness and help save lives.

How to participate? You can work individually or in groups of two or three students Create your own news report on disaster preparedness an submit it online To get started, go to: www.adpc.net/iprepare www.adpc.net/iprepare The three groups submitting the highest ranked news reports, will be rewarded with a certificate, a Nokia Asha 503 smart phone and a small financial grant from HSPH

What to write about?

Assignments Check out the three assignment topics on iPrepare website: 1)Securing the continuity of businesses 2)Health care facilities ready to respond 3)Reporting from the field Choose the assignment that suits your interests best and let your creativity flow

Guidelines Stories can be submitted either in Vietnamese or English You can submit one or more stories Maximum length: 1700 characters Include at least one photo related to your story You can spice up the news with a short video clip which you can upload on YouTube *The deadline for submissions is 30 April 2014.

Keep in mind It is polite to contact the interviewees in advance Remember to ask permission from people you interview for publishing their comments, photos or video online You must have full copyrights to the contents (text, photos and video) you submit on iPrepare

How to submit? In the Submit-section, insert your contact information and story along with a catchy header and a brief introduction Add photos and video by inserting URL (web address) Insert the location and click next to submit your news on the next page

How to add photos? Upload your photos to any image hosting service online, for example ImageShack.com or Flickr.com Minimum size of a photo: 940x467 pixels Copy the URL-address in the Submit- form

How to add video? Upload your video on YouTube Click “Share” below the video and copy the URL-link (“Share this video”) Paste the link into the Submit-form

Judging criteria The best iPrepare news reports will be rewarded in May/June 2014 A panel of judges with representatives from Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, Hanoi School of Public Health, Vietnam National University and Vietnam Television will review all stories Judging criteria: Innovativeness of the approach to disaster preparedness Structure and fluency of the text Quality of photos and video Number of clicks on iPrepare website Good luck!
