1 AOS Department Spokane Community College Now that you are enrolled in a web-based class, welcome aboard!

2 How to succeed!  Read and print the information created for you! –Course objectives –General policies –How to submit assignments –Grading and test information –Course Schedule

3 Course Dates  Know the start and end dates for your course (printed on your registration receipt).  Know the last day and hour you may submit assignments—August 15 at noon.  Know your test dates (July 23, August 1, 14, and 19).

4 Course Policies  Complete and submit ALL work to receive a grade or credits.  Do your own work; do not submit someone else’s work.  Z and I grades are at the discretion of your instructor.

5 Instructor’s Goal  Answer questions within 24 hours excluding holidays and weekends. Summer “weekends” start on Friday.  Create a positive learning experience.  Grade and return assignments within 24 hours excluding holidays and weekends.

6 Student’s Responsibility  Read chapters before beginning assignments.  Submit assignments by the due dates.  Save all documents electronically.  Communicate verbal and written questions in concise, clear language.  Check for new announcements at least three times a week.

7 So you want a good grade?? Follow these steps...  Submit assignments by the due date!  Follow all instructions for the assignment/test.  Proofread carefully.  Plan ahead and “get ahead” in your assignments.

8 Submitting Assignments  Online students submit assignments through e-mail.  Enter your course number followed by first name and last name in the subject line: –Subject: 122 Jane Doe  Forget to do that? Your e-mail will be returned ungraded!

9 Late Assignments ???  Assignments submitted one week after the due date may receive a zero!  Points may be deducted from the assignment score if assignment is one day past due!

10 How are my assignments graded?  Accuracy does count!  Understanding concepts is important.  See your course web site for more information!

12 Unreasonable Expectations Instructors have experienced the following events:  Weeks of assignments submitted the last two or three days of the quarter! This is called “dumping” on your instructor.  Requests for tests submitted on the weekend with delivery expected on the same weekend.

13 It’s a simple “recipe” Your instructor is here to help you succeed. If you do your part, your instructor will do her part! It is as simple as that!
